Have you ever seen an Indian woman and wondered how her skin was so bright and glowing? The secret is…TUMERIC! Yes, it is a spice you cook with but it’s also the secret to beautiful glowing skin. Women in India have been in on the secret for thousands of years. They’ll use a mixture with turmeric on their skin the night before their wedding to get that beautiful glow for their wedding day. So why not create your own mixture at home to get gorgeous skin?

This mixture is a little different than what you may see with their traditional Indian Bridal Glow Mask but the results are still there. This DIY mask is something you can create at home, and it’s all ingredients you can find easily at your local grocery store!

Tumeric Mask Recipe:

  • 1 tsp. turmeric powder

  • 2 tsp. rice powder (or garbanzo flour or finely-ground oats)

  • 3 tbsp. plain yogurt (or milk, cream or sour cream)

Mix everything together until you have a smooth consistency, and then slather it onto your face! Leave it on for about 15-20 minutes until it dries. Then just rinse it off and gently scrub as you remove it. (Wear a shirt that is ok to get dirty or use a towel.)

This mask is great for several things. In addition to brightening the skin, it also helps with softness, reducing puffiness, and it even helps with the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles! It’s awesome for oily/acne prone skin with the rice powder. And if you have dry or mature skin, just swap the rice powder out for the ground oats to create an even softer canvas.

This mask is great to try on a relaxing night at home or even hanging out for a girl’s night! Get that J-Lo glow at home, and all your friends will want to know your secret.
